Engineering Team Lead - GateManager Platform
The Opportunity
Every day, thousands of manufacturers and machine builders rely on Secomea's Secure Remote Access platform to securely connect engineers with the industrial equipment that keeps factories, utilities, and critical infrastructure running.
Secomea is entering its next phase of accelerated growth. Building on strong commercial momentum, the company is now strengthening its engineering teams as a strategic foundation for further growth.
We’re hiring an Engineering Team Lead for our Secomea GateManager Team, reporting directly to the VP of Engineering. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people leadership.
This is a role with significant influence in a growing international company where initiative, technical excellence, accountability, and impact matter.
What You'll Do
As Engineering Team Lead for our GateManager team, you'll help shape one of the most security-critical components of Secomea's platform.
The Secomea GateManager is a foundational part of our distributed cloud-to-edge architecture and acts as the Zero Trust enforcement point of the platform: it brokers every session, validates each request against policies, enforces them locally even offline, and captures every connection as audit-ready evidence for the OT intelligence layer.
Together with the team, you will design and evolve our secure, reliable, and scalable Linux-based platform while helping define the platform's technical direction, so GateManager continues to meet the demanding requirements of industrial security-sensitive environments.
You'll solve challenging engineering problems spanning distributed systems, secure networking, identity, authentication and authorization, policy enforcement, secure communications, observability, scalability, reliability, and long-term platform evolution amd contribute directly to architecture and code reviews.
You will collaborate closely with teams across hardware, firmware, cloud services, and user experience to ensure GateManager integrates seamlessly across the entire Secure Remote Access platform.
As a people leader, you will coach and support team members through regular feedback, development discussions, hiring activities, and performance management. You will drive engineering excellence through sound architecture, high code quality, and continuous improvement.
You will work closely with Product Management, Engineering Leadership, Cybersecurity, QA, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities, delivery, and strategic direction.
Success in this role requires both technical depth and the ability to create clarity, build trust, and help a team perform at a high level.
You will be part of Secomea's engineering leadership community, working closely with other Team Leads and Engineering Managers to evolve our technology organization, engineering practices, and technical direction.
What We're Looking For
You may already be leading a team, or you may be a senior engineer who naturally takes ownership, mentors colleagues, and drives technical initiatives. In either case, you are motivated by helping people succeed and understand that strong teams are built through trust, communication, and shared accountability.
You have a strong software engineering background and significant experience developing production-grade systems on Linux. You are comfortable working with networking technologies, secure communications, and complex distributed systems, and you enjoy solving challenging technical problems.
You are comfortable operating in an environment where requirements evolve and not every answer is known upfront. Rather than waiting for direction, you proactively identify opportunities, clarify uncertainties, and move initiatives forward.
We are looking for someone who combines technical credibility with leadership capability, and who can inspire confidence through both expertise and action.
Experience We Value
Strong experience with systems development on Linux (Rust/Go/C/C++)
Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, TLS, secure communications, and distributed networking concepts
Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools in production settings, and informed views on where they fit in security-critical software.
Experience building and operating server-side platforms
Experience building highly available distributed systems
Proven ability to mentor, coach, or lead other engineers
Knowledge of OT, software development for regulated environments, or cybersecurity is a definite plus.
Just as important, you:
Take ownership and drive tasks to completion
Proactively identify gaps, risks, and improvements.
Translate high-level goals into concrete technical outcomes
Care about building robust systems that are stable and perform reliably in the real world.
You do not need to meet every requirement to be successful in the role. We value curiosity, ownership, and the ability to learn as highly as specific technical experience.
You could be based in Copenhagen or Northern Europe if you're open to travel occasionally to the Copenhagen office.
About Secomea
Secomea is a global leader in Operational Technology (OT) and secure remote access solutions for industrial environments. We help manufacturers, machine builders, and system integrators securely connect, monitor, and manage industrial equipment around the world.
Founded in Denmark in 2008, Secomea has spent more than fifteen years helping organizations enable protected access to their critical industrial infrastructure while supporting efficient and secure operations. Today, we serve customers globally through our offices in Denmark, the United States, Japan, and China, as well as a network of partners across more than 70 countries.
As cybersecurity and compliance become increasingly critical to industrial operations, our mission remains simple: Protecting the factory floor.
Why Join Secomea?
This role combines technical depth, architectural influence, and people leadership in equal measure.
You'll work on difficult engineering problems spanning cybersecurity, distributed systems, networking, identity, and Operational Technology—alongside experienced engineers who care about building robust, long-lived software.
As a Team Lead, you'll have influence. You'll shape both the technical direction of a critical platform and the growth of the people building it. You'll work in an engineering organization that's large enough to build globally trusted products, yet small enough that your technical decisions and leadership genuinely shape the platform's future and grow our people.
Perhaps most importantly, your work has a tangible impact. Every improvement your team delivers helps manufacturers and critical infrastructure operators connect securely to the systems that keep factories, utilities, and essential services running. It's engineering with a purpose you can see in the real world.
